Biomedical Engineer
Duties and Responsibilities:
Biomedical engineering (BME) is the
application of engineering principles and design concepts to medicine and
biology for healthcare purposes (e.g. diagnostic or therapeutic). This field
seeks to close the gap between engineering and medicine: It combines the design
and problem solving skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences
to advance healthcare treatment, including diagnosis, monitoring, and therapy.
Salary: $35,000-$65,000
Educational Requirements:
Biomedical engineering technicians maintain
and repair medical equipment. Technicians must be familiar with the operation
of many types of medical equipment to be able to diagnose and correct
malfunction. These duties require biomedical engineering technicians to be
knowledgeable about and skilled in the use of many different types of
electronic and computer diagnostic equipment. These technicians must also be
proficient in the use of equipment diagrams and blueprints.
It would be cool to become a
biomedical engineer because it seems like a pretty awesome job to be working
in. I also like biology and working in science.
